Joan Davis

Joan Davis

Jazz vocalist Joan Davis was born in Washington D. C., the cosmopolitan capital of America’s East Coast. As a child her father took her to see such greats as Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie and Oscar Peterson at the legendary Howard Theatre. As she grew up she was often drafted into performing on stage, and even sang for President Lyndon B Johnson.

‘Joan’s new CD is called Promiseland and for Joan it must be like reaching her own promised land. It is magnificent, the Joan Davis album we have all been waiting for. It is a beautiful piece of work, by far the best representation yet of what Joan is all about. Promiseland is a true jazz album and vastly different to the multitude of female singer-led albums that fill up jazz sections these days.’
